Why Architects Hire Photographers Like Me

This rather modest project, shot for one of my architectural clients, at the University of Minnesota's Medical School/Department of Urology, illustrates why architects (should) hire professional photographers.

The before shots were not meant to be finished project photos. However, they were shot with a point and shoot camera. The after shots were shot by me with professional equipment. The images were shot as HDR which expanded the dynamic range of the photos. That's why you can see detail in the shadows and highlights (particularly the ceiling lights) and the tone of the woodwork is richer and more realistic. Each image was comprised of 5-7 images shot at different exposures.

Of course, a better perspective and a wide angle lens (with little or no distortion) provide better coverage and tell more of the story of the project.
