To be an effective image using Depth of Field as a compositional device, you have to have a well defined Center of Interest. I don't see one here. The sharply focused point is focused randomly along the rails of the bench. It's more of a Converging Lines image which would have been made better by cropping the lower portion of the image and focusing on either the near end or the far end of the bench.
Jodell Kruse. Technique: S Curve.
Interesting image. The technique used is probably Depth of Field, not S Curve. For that, it works. I wonder exactly what the Center of Interest is. I don't know what that object is. Be careful in your shot selection that you can tell a story with your images.
Jeremy Petrick. Technique: Converging Lines.
This is a super image. Great job in finding an interesting and unique point of view. I would have worked a little more with this point of view. I'm not sure the focus point is where I would put it. It's not quite at the interesection of the two tree trunks.
Carlos Nazareth. Technique: Depth of Field.
This is both an example of Depth of Field and Contrast both in color and light to dark. Depth of Field would have been greatly enhanced by using a lens with a larger maximum aperture than f/4.
