Reflections

"Cityscapes" Minneapolis #357

My business as an architectural photographer exposes me to the delightful geometry of lines, shadows, and reflections. The idea of creating a project that was all about shape has been burning in my brain for the last year. Recently, one of my favorite clients gave me access to a variety of office suites in one of their premier downtown Minneapolis office buildings. I found stunning views that afforded a myriad of opportunities to bring this concept to life. Although I expected to be able to create images that illustrated the interplay between line and shadow, I was surprised by how the reflections of buildings and light added texture and dimension to the view.

Inspired by the American painter Lyonel Feininger (1871-1956), I have combined these images to create cubist like images that showcase the reflections. This is a first broad brush at this subject. Let me know what you think!
